CTASA has strong showing at local USPSA Mini-Major and the Infamous Razorback Shootout!
This past weekend, various members of our Ctasa family shot two major matches… The IDPA Razorback Shootout and the USPSA Reticle Revolution.
The Razorback Shootout is a Tier III IDPA match held annually in Perryville, Arkansas, and hosted by the Central Arkansas Shooters Association (CASA). Known for its demanding and technical stage designs, this match featured 12 challenging stages that tested even the most seasoned shooters. From a moving target with an attached non-threat to a 20-yard precision shot from cover with a swinging non-threat obscuring the view, every stage demanded accuracy and strategy. Even Master class shooters were buzzing about the multitude of ways each stage could be approached, with creative problem-solving turning stage planning into a lively and collaborative affair among friends.

CTASA’s very own President, Mark Draper, in action!
To complement this event, the Lake Forest Practical Shooters (LFPS) hosted a creative “mini-major” USPSA match that put a fresh twist on competition by limiting entries to just two divisions: Carry Optics and Limited Optics. These divisions share a lot in common—both run Minor ammo (typically 9mm), support 22 to 24-round magazines, and require red dot sights—but the devil is in the details. Carry Optics sticks to more traditional setups, disallowing single-action pistols like 2011s and excluding magwells, while Limited Optics was designed to embrace those very features, even allowing the use of race holsters.
This match brought together the two most competitive optics divisions for a head-to-head showcase, featuring 10 medium to large stages loaded with hard cover, no-shoots, and enough challenges to keep shooters on their toes. Penalties weren’t just possible—they were common—making every clean run feel like a small victory. It was a sharp, fast-paced test of precision, strategy, and adaptability.
